8LI / Work

Selected
Work.

A handful of projects that reflect the kind of work we do best — connected apps, complex platforms, platform rescues, custom workflow systems, and products that required careful integration of design, business logic, and technical architecture.

Case 001

CultureForce

events.cultureforce.us
CultureForce — Your Mobile Window to the Cultural Arts
CultureForce — Mobile — event discovery
CultureForce — Mobile — event detail, dark theme
CultureForce — Desktop — unified event browse
CultureForce — Mobile — near-me venue map
CultureForce — Mobile — venue directory
CultureForce — Mobile — unified search across events, venues & organizations

What it is

CultureForce connects audiences with the performing arts — thousands of live events, venues, and cultural organizations in one app. After a previous vendor's rewrite stalled, 8LI took over the platform: the first three-week sprint rebuilt the entire legacy app on a modern foundation, redesigned every screen with full light and dark themes, and introduced one unified search across events, venues, and organizations.

What made it complex

Two parallel database schemas — the legacy production system and a half-shipped rewrite — had to be reconciled without losing live data. An idempotent migration pipeline now moves 3,700+ events, 7,500+ performances, and roughly 9,500 media assets cleanly on every refresh with zero referential orphans, while latent API bugs in production code paths were found and fixed along the way.

Delivered

  • Ground-up app rebuild — ~30 screens at full feature parity
  • Complete visual redesign with light + dark themes
  • Unified search across events, venues & organizations
  • Idempotent data-rescue pipeline (3,700+ events, zero orphans)
  • Hardened API, modern sign-in (Apple & Google), staging live over HTTPS
Case 002

Connectista

connectista.com
Connectista — Connectista — the product
Connectista — Mobile — club dashboard
Connectista — Desktop — product landing page
Connectista — Mobile — member profile
Connectista — Desktop — member directory with board & officers
Connectista — Mobile — announcement with one-tap share to email & WhatsApp

What it is

Connectista is a product 8LI designed, built, and operates: a branded member network that gives each club its own app — a living member directory, events calendar, and official announcements hub under the club's own name, logo, and colors. It runs today for the Miami Rowing Club and the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana (littlehavana.connectista.com).

What made it complex

One codebase serves every club as a fully branded tenant: self-serve provisioning, a live brand editor, and per-club theming with no per-club builds. Member data stays behind adult-only authentication beneath a public club shell, roster imports auto-map arbitrary spreadsheets, and an AI inbound bridge turns a forwarded email into draft events and announcements awaiting admin approval.

Delivered

  • Multi-tenant SaaS platform — one codebase, unlimited branded clubs
  • Installable web app with a home-screen icon — no app store required
  • Self-serve club provisioning and live brand editor
  • AI email bridge: forwarded mail becomes draft events and announcements
  • Live production tenants: Miami Rowing Club and Kiwanis Club of Little Havana

What it is

A desktop and mobile configurator allowing customers to customize bathroom vanities — selecting dimensions, finishes, hardware, and accessories — before passing a complete configuration into a national home-improvement retailer's checkout flow. Built in service of the retailer's manufacturing partner.

What made it complex

Deep integration with an external e-commerce platform, complex dependency logic between product options, and the need to keep the configurator experience fast and fluid across device types.

Delivered

  • Desktop + mobile web configurator
  • Product dependency and rules engine
  • Visual preview system
  • Retailer checkout integration
  • Responsive implementation across viewports
Case 004

LaceClips

Fig. 004 LaceClips

What it is

LaceClips is a mobile app connecting to Bluetooth-enabled shoelaces to track and analyze movement — steps, jumps, pivots — during athletic performance. The app supports individual tracking, statistical analysis, and social sharing of workout data.

What made it complex

Real-time BLE device communication across iOS and Android with proprietary hardware required careful protocol-level implementation. The social and data visualization layers had to remain responsive while the device layer handled continuous streaming data.

Delivered

  • Cross-platform mobile app (iOS + Android)
  • BLE device integration with proprietary hardware
  • Real-time data pipeline & analytics dashboard
  • Social sharing & user account system
  • App store release on both platforms
